off-ice TRAINING & classes

Off-Ice Training for On-Ice Success

Off-ice training is an essential complement to on-ice practice, helping skaters build the strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination needed to perform at their best. By focusing on core stability, balance, and muscle control off the ice, skaters can improve their jumps, spins, and overall technique while reducing the risk of injury. Incorporating off-ice workouts ensures that every minute on the ice is more effective and productive, supporting faster progress and long-term development.

Skate VIDA offers both in-person and virtual off-ice training opportunities.

In-person off-ice classes

total body fitness

Our in-person off-ice classes focus on total body fitness—combining conditioning, cardio, agility, and strength training designed specifically for figure skaters. These sessions help skaters build power, endurance, flexibility, and balance, all of which directly translate to improved performance on the ice. By strengthening key muscle groups and improving overall athleticism, off-ice training not only enhances jump height and spin control but also plays a vital role in preventing injuries and supporting long-term skating success.

FITNESS group classes are available most days before and/or after on-ice sessions and private lessons can be scheduled.

Harness & electric spinner

Our off-ice harness and electric spinner lessons help skaters with  air position, body alignment, and rotational control. With the ability to isolate and repeat jump movements off the ice, skaters can develop stronger muscle memory and a more efficient rotational axis. The electric spinner also provides valuable vestibular training—helping skaters improve their balance, spatial awareness, and ability to control dizziness—so they can transfer clean, confident rotations to the ice.

HARNESS/SPINNER lessons can be scheduled as 15 min private lessons with Coach Rhea.

Jump & Spin Technique

Our off-ice jump and spin technique classes focus on mastering the fundamentals that elevate on-ice performance. Skaters work on proper rotation mechanics and jump technique as well as balance and spin positions. By breaking down each movement and building strong muscle memory off the ice, skaters develop the control, precision, and confidence needed to perform more advanced elements with consistency on the ice.

TECHNIQUE lessons can be scheduled as small group classes or private lessons with any freeskate coach.

ballet for figure skaters

Our ballet classes help skaters develop the grace, posture, and body awareness that define beautiful skating. Through classical ballet technique, skaters learn to extend their lines, improve turnout and core control, and move with greater fluidity and expression. Ballet training strengthens the foundation for artistry and presentation on the ice—enhancing everything from spins and spirals to choreography and overall performance quality.

BALLET is offered with Coach Evgeni every Tuesday morning from 7:45-8:45am. Private lessons can also be scheduled on Tuesday mornings.

yoga for figure skaters

Our yoga classes are designed to support skaters’ bodies and minds through targeted flexibility, balance, and recovery work. Yoga helps improve range of motion for deeper edges and better positions, while promoting muscle recovery and reducing soreness from intense training. By enhancing core stability, joint mobility, and mental focus, yoga also plays a key role in injury prevention—keeping skaters strong, centered, and ready to perform their best on the ice.

YOGA is offered with Coach Kymberlie every Saturday afternoon from 3-3:45pm. Private lessons can also be scheduled.
