Specialty Figure Skating Classes

Focused sessions that target jumps, spins, transitions, artistry, and performance. designed to supplement your foundation training and accelerate your advancement.

Skate VIDA’s Specialty Classes focus on advanced figure skating skills including jump technique (singles to triples), spin features, creative movement, show tricks, and transition work. These targeted sessions help skaters refine specific elements, build confidence, and add artistic expression to their skating.


Who Specialty Classes Are For:

  • Skaters who have completed Learn to Ice Skate Foundations training

  • Athletes working toward higher test levels

  • Skaters preparing for competition or shows

  • Intermediate and advanced athletes refining technique

SAMPLE Saturday Class Schedule:

  • 3-3:45 Off-Ice:

    • Yoga for Figure Skaters,

    • Conditioning & Strength, or

    • Jump & Spin Technique

  • 4-4:30 Power or Skating Skills

  • 4:30-5 Spins

  • 5-5:30 Creative Movement:

    • Choreography,

    • Show Tricks, or

    • Transitions

  • 5:30-6 Jumps

Prerequisites:

  • Skaters should have completed Learn to Ice Skate Foundations Levels 1-4

  • Must demonstrate consistent control of edges, turns, and early spin positions

  • Coaches will help identify appropriate class placements

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Specialty Classes focus on advanced skills and specific elements (jumps, spins, transitions, artistry), whereas Learn to Ice Skate classes build foundational skills.

  • Not necessarily — skills will be reviewed by coaches to determine appropriate class placement.

  • Yes. Adults with foundational skills are welcome to attend.

    Skaters are always welcome to join ANY class that is level-appropriate, regardless of age. However, we also recognize that all ages do not necessarily learn the same way or along the same trajectory. So, when attendance and interest allows, classes can be grouped by age AND skill-level to provide a supportive community for all our skaters. Skaters learn all the same fundamental skills taught in our Learn to Ice Skate curriculum and then branch out to explore these Specialty Classes.

  • Classes are offered weekly every Saturday.

  • Yes. Many skaters supplement Specialty Classes with private lessons for individualized feedback.
